Founder of Bakeracing, he dominated the SCCA Endurance Championship in 1986 and 1987, and his racing success led to Corvette’s temporary ban from competition in 1988. A former Corvette test driver and Goodyear development partner, Baker was instrumental in shaping the high-performance characteristics of the ZR-1, and was part of the world-record-setting ZR-1 team with Tommy Morrison.
